Terrorists Kill 26, Burn Police Station in Deadful Niger State Attacks

Terrorists have killed no fewer than 26 people in coordinated attacks on communities in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, with a police station razed and scores of residents abducted .

According to reliable sources, the first attack occurred on Friday in Feyi community, where six persons were shot dead by heavily armed marauders who arrived on motorcycles and began firing sporadically, sending helpless villagers fleeing for their lives .

The terrorists subsequently moved to Tungan Makeri and Nkpaso villages, both in Konkoso Ward of Borgu LGA, in the early hours of Saturday. In the second wave of violence, they gunned down 20 residents, set houses ablaze, and torched the police station in Pissa .

A dependable source who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that a military helicopter was later sighted moving toward the ravaged communities, though no casualties were recorded on the part of the terrorists .

Communities in Borgu have faced repeated raids by terrorist groups in recent months, resulting in significant loss of lives and property .

The Niger State Police Command confirmed the incident through its Public Relations Unit, stating: “On 14/2/2026 at about 6am, report received indicated that at about 3am, suspected bandits invaded Tunga-Makeri village via Shafachi district Borgu LGA and during the attack, six persons lost their lives, some houses were also set ablaze, and a yet to be ascertained number of persons were abducted” .

The statement added that the terrorists were also reported to have moved to Konkoso village, with other details still sketchy .

“Meanwhile, joint security teams have been mobilized to the scene for assessment and effort to rescue the victims is ongoing,” the police command stated .
