Two Nabbed in Adamawa Over Alleged Abduction of Child

YOLA, NIGERIA — The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged abduction of a four-year-old child in Demsa Local Government Area, the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, has confirmed .

The arrest followed a distress call received on March 12, 2026, reporting the disappearance of the toddler from her mother’s shop in the area. According to the police, the suspects allegedly lured the child away under unclear circumstances before residents raised the alarm .

“Upon receipt of the information, our operatives swiftly mobilized and commenced a search. Acting on credible intelligence and the vigilance of community members, the suspects were apprehended, and the child was safely rescued unharmed,” Nguroje stated .

The two suspects are currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola, where they are assisting with investigations. Nguroje assured that the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations .

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, commended the public for their timely information and cooperation, which led to the safe recovery of the child and the arrest of the suspects. He urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies promptly .

The command reiterated its commitment to protecting the lives and property of all residents in Adamawa State .
