Rt. Hon. Emeka Atuma Wins APC Abia Central Senatorial Ticket With 36,935 Votes, Defeats Onuigbo and Nwogu in Landslide Primary Victory

Rt. Hon. Chief Emeka Atuma, popularly known as “Kabila,” has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Abia Central Senatorial District primaries with a landslide and commanding total of 36,935 votes, defeating two formidable political heavyweights in what has been described as one of the most keenly contested senatorial primaries in recent APC history in Abia State.

📊 Official Primary Results — APC Abia Central Senatorial District:
Rt. Hon. Chief Emeka Atuma — 36,935 votes ✅ WINNER
Nkechi Nwogu — 11,451 votes
Rep. Sam Onuigbo — 5,833 votes

The result, announced by the Returning Officer in a largely peaceful and transparent exercise, sent an unmistakable and resounding message about the depth, breadth, and grassroots strength of Atuma’s support across the entire senatorial district.
Incumbent Rep. Sam Onuigbo, a well-known federal legislator and political heavyweight who brought considerable influence and name recognition to the contest, could only manage 5,833 votes, while the equally prominent and deeply networked Nkechi Nwogu polled 11,451 votes — both falling far short of Atuma’s overwhelming tally.

Party faithful, community leaders, delegates, and stakeholders from across the senatorial zone turned out in large numbers for the exercise, underscoring the high stakes and intense public interest the contest had generated across Abia Central.

In his victory remarks, a visibly humbled Rt. Hon. Atuma expressed profound gratitude to delegates, party leadership, community stakeholders, and the people of Abia Central for the extraordinary confidence reposed in him.

“This victory belongs to the people of Abia Central,” Atuma declared. “I am deeply humbled by this overwhelming show of trust and I will not take it for granted. My focus from this moment is unity, reconciliation within our great party, and ultimately, delivering victory for the APC and meaningful service to our people.”

The victory comes on the heels of significant endorsements from key political figures across the zone, including the widely celebrated decision by former Abia State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. C.O. Enweremadu, to step down and throw his full support behind Atuma in the interest of equity, zoning, and political harmony.

With this decisive primary victory, Rt. Hon. Chief Emeka Atuma is now the duly endorsed APC candidate for the Abia Central Senatorial District, and the party is expected to close ranks and rally united behind him as the 2027 general election draws closer.
