Solidarity on the Streets: Ogun Residents Rise Up in Protest, Demand Immediate End to Rising Insecurity Over Oyo School Abductions

In a powerful show of solidarity, residents of Ogun State have stormed the streets in protest, adding their voices to the growing national outrage over the shocking abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The demonstrators, comprising students, traders, civil society groups, and concerned citizens, marched through key areas demanding that both state and federal governments take decisive and immediate action to end the alarming wave of insecurity sweeping across Southwest Nigeria.

Protesters carried placards with bold inscriptions condemning kidnapping, demanding justice for victims, and calling on security agencies to intensify operations against armed bandits and kidnappers terrorising communities and schools.

Many residents expressed deep fear that the Oyo abductions, if left unaddressed, could embolden criminals to strike in Ogun and other neighboring states, putting more lives and schools at risk.

“Today it is Oyo. Tomorrow it could be our children. We must stand together and demand that our leaders protect us,” one visibly emotional protester declared.

The Ogun protest signals that public frustration over insecurity has moved beyond state boundaries, becoming a regional and national emergency demanding urgent, coordinated government response.

Security officials were on ground to maintain order as the demonstration continued peacefully.
