Ikwuano Indigenes Urge Government to Stop Alleged Destruction of Farms by NRCRI Cattle

Residents of Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State have appealed to the government to intervene over the alleged destruction of farms and communities by cattle reportedly owned by the National Root Crops Research Institute (NRCRI), Umudike.

**CDA News Nigeria** reports that the appeal followed an interview aired on **Ikwuano TV Global**, where community members alleged that the institute’s cattle have continued to stray into villages and farmlands, destroying crops and threatening the livelihoods of local farmers.

According to the residents interviewed, repeated complaints to the relevant authorities have yet to produce a lasting solution. They called on the Abia State Government and the management of the National Root Crops Research Institute to urgently address the situation and prevent further losses.

The affected residents expressed concern that the continued destruction of crops could worsen economic hardship for farming families who depend on agriculture for their income.

As of the time of filing this report, the management of the National Root Crops Research Institute, Umudike, had not publicly responded to the allegations.

**CDA News Nigeria** gathered that residents are hopeful the authorities will investigate the claims and take appropriate action to protect lives, property and farmlands.
