Come And Save Us’ – PDP Chairman Seeks Trump’s Help As Party Crisis Worsens

ABUJA – The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bawa Abubakar, has made an extraordinary appeal to former United States President Donald Trump for intervention as the opposition party’s internal crisis deepens.

In a dramatic development on Tuesday, the embattled chairman publicly called on the former American leader to “come and save us” from the escalating factional war that has left the party divided and weakened.

The unusual international appeal comes amid violent clashes at the party’s national secretariat that saw tear gas deployed against prominent party members including former Minister Kabiru Turaki and Governors Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed.

“We are calling on President Donald Trump and the international community to intervene before our party is completely destroyed by these internal conflicts,” the chairman stated during a press briefing.

The appeal to Trump references the former president’s previous comments about religious violence in Nigeria, with the PDP chairman suggesting the party crisis has implications for Nigeria’s democratic stability.

Political analysts have described the move as unprecedented in Nigerian politics, marking the first time a major political party has sought direct intervention from a foreign political figure in internal party matters.

The PDP has been engulfed in a leadership battle between factions loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and those supporting the Taminu Turaki-led group, with both sides claiming legitimacy.
