Nigerian Army Clarifies Soldiers Do Not Purchase Uniforms or Bulletproof Vests

The Nigerian Army has clarified that soldiers are not expected to purchase their own uniforms or bulletproof vests, addressing circulating claims suggesting otherwise.

In an official statement, Army spokespersons emphasized that all personal protective equipment, including bulletproof vests, and standard uniforms are provided by the service as part of the military’s commitment to operational readiness and personnel welfare.

The clarification seeks to dispel misinformation that may cause confusion among enlisted personnel or the public.

The Army further explained that procurement of such essential items is centrally managed to ensure quality, uniformity, and compliance with operational standards. Soldiers are trained to properly maintain issued gear to maximize protection and durability.

Military analysts note that misinformation regarding soldiers’ obligations can affect morale and public perception of the Armed Forces. By issuing this statement, the Nigerian Army aims to reinforce trust and assure both personnel and the public that resources for safety and operational efficiency are systematically supplied.

The Army also encouraged citizens to verify official information through authorized channels to avoid spreading unverified claims. This step comes amid heightened security operations nationwide, where ensuring the readiness and safety of personnel remains a top priority.
