NTALAKWU OBORO – In a significant end-of-year community engagement, Honourable Emeka Atuma has handed over a newly reconstructed five-classroom block to the Community Junior Secondary School in Ntalakwu Oboro, Ikwuano LGA, while simultaneously launching a major economic empowerment initiative for women.
The event, held on December 31, 2025, saw the lawmaker formally present the project to the President General, Hon. Nnanna Atuonwu, amidst a large gathering of traditional rulers, school staff, students, and women’s groups.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Atuma called for unity and collective ownership of public projects. “Sustainable development is only possible when we are united and when we see public infrastructure as our own to protect and maintain,” he stated. He praised the community leadership, led by the Regent, Chief Bob Onyemachi, for their oversight of the project.
CDA News gathered that the School authorities disclosed a dramatic turnaround for the institution, which had zero enrollment and was abandoned as of March 2023. Following Atuma’s interventions—including the classroom reconstruction, renovation of old buildings, installation of solar-powered lights, and provision of textbooks—student population has surged to over 550. The project also addressed teacher welfare, with settled salary arrears and festive season support.
CDA News reports that beyond infrastructure, the event highlighted a robust empowerment drive. Hon. Atuma disbursed ₦1.5 million to five women for business expansion, distributed wrappers and food items worth over ₦5 million, and gave direct cash support exceeding ₦3 million to more than 100 women from the community.
In a show of solidarity, the APC National Welfare Secretary, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, who was present, commended Atuma’s achievements and added a cash gift of ₦500,000 to the women’s empowerment pool.
Community leaders lauded the holistic approach. “Hon. Atuma has presented a model that integrates physical development, social welfare, and community cohesion,” the President General noted.
Barrister Mrs. Oby Atuma, the lawmaker’s wife, also delivered a goodwill message, thanking the project team and the women of Ntalakwu Oboro for their massive turnout and support.
The event underscored a community-focused representation, marking a tangible close to the year with gifts of education and economic hope.
