What began as a simple declaration of intent by Rt. Hon. Emeka Atuma for the Abia Central Senate seat yesterday transformed into what eyewitnesses are calling the most colourful and unprecedented political outing in the district’s history.
The Ndoro School Field became a sea of white and green as thousands of supporters, including a coordinated armada of groups—the Kabila Movement, Atuma Grace Movement, Atuma Voices, and the For Us By Us Movement—converged to send a unanimous message: The Abia Central Senatorial ticket is his.
When Atuma stepped onto the podium, the roar from the crowd did not just echo—it shook the political establishment. Visitors from neighbouring zones stood in awe, with one chieftain overheard saying, “This is not a rally; this is a movement.”
The former federal lawmaker, who represented Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency (2003–2007), reminded the gathering of his track record and challenged other aspirants to show their scorecards. He promised responsive representation, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development.
As the dust settles, political analysts say the message is clear: Atuma is not just a candidate but the vehicle for the liberation of Abia Central. For the APC, handing him the ticket may be the key to a landslide victory in 2027.
