Five House of Representatives Members Praise Tinubu Over N700 Billion Osun Road Projects in Show of Appreciation

Five members of the House of Representatives have stepped forward with glowing and heartfelt commendations for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the approval and flagging off of a massive N700 billion road infrastructure programme in Osun State — describing the landmark investment as one of the most significant and transformational federal commitments to the development of the South-West geopolitical zone in recent Nigerian history.

The five legislators, who represent constituencies across Osun State, jointly expressed their deep appreciation to President Tinubu for what they described as a bold, decisive, and development-driven intervention that will fundamentally reshape the state’s road network, ease the movement of people and goods, stimulate economic activity, create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, and deliver the kind of visible and lasting infrastructure that the people of Osun State have long deserved and long awaited.

Speaking with visible excitement and gratitude on behalf of their constituents, the Reps members noted that the N700 billion road projects represent an unprecedented level of federal infrastructure investment in Osun State — an investment that they argued reflects President Tinubu’s deep personal connection to the South-West, his understanding of the region’s infrastructure deficit, and his genuine commitment to using the power and resources of the federal government to drive meaningful and measurable development across his home geopolitical zone.

The lawmakers highlighted the critical importance of road infrastructure to the economic life and daily welfare of Osun communities — noting that improved roads will reduce travel times, lower transportation costs for farmers and traders, open up rural areas to commercial activity, attract private investment, and ultimately improve the quality of life for millions of ordinary Osun residents who have suffered for years under the burden of dilapidated, dangerous, and poorly maintained road networks.

The five House of Representatives members equally used the occasion to urge the Federal Ministry of Works and the relevant contracting agencies to ensure that the N700 billion road projects are executed with the highest standards of quality, transparency, and accountability — stressing the importance of timely delivery, proper supervision, and zero tolerance for the kind of contractor negligence, project abandonment, and fund diversion that have historically plagued federal road projects across Nigeria.

They further called on the Osun State Government to complement the federal road investment with parallel state-level infrastructure interventions — ensuring that the benefits of the federal projects are maximised through coordinated planning, complementary feeder road construction, and sustained maintenance frameworks that will protect the longevity and value of the federal investment.

The commendation by the five Reps members is expected to generate significant political goodwill for President Tinubu in Osun State and across the South-West — particularly at a time when the state is preparing for a closely watched gubernatorial election that will test the comparative strengths of the ruling APC and the opposition PDP on their home turf.

Political observers note that the timing and scale of the N700 billion Osun road investment carries unmistakable political significance, coming ahead of the Osun governorship contest and reinforcing President Tinubu’s commitment to delivering infrastructure dividends to states and regions that are central to his political base and re-election calculations ahead of 2027.
