Adesanya-Davies Condemns Kwara Church Attack, Demands Urgent Action Against Terrorism

Former presidential candidate and peace advocate, Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, has condemned the deadly attack on worshippers during a night vigil in Kwara State, describing the incident as “barbaric and an affront against humanity.”

Reacting to reports that armed attackers invaded a prayer ground at Ori-Oke Ajaiye near Ikiran Village in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing three worshippers and abducting several others, Adesanya-Davies expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy.

According to reports, the assailants stormed the prayer gathering during the vigil, causing panic and bloodshed among worshippers. Security agencies have reportedly commenced rescue operations to secure the release of those abducted.

Speaking from Port Harcourt, the former presidential candidate lamented the growing insecurity across Nigeria, particularly repeated attacks on churches, communities, and innocent civilians.

“It is heartbreaking that people can no longer worship freely in peace and safety within their own country,” she stated.

Adesanya-Davies called on the Federal Government, security agencies, religious leaders, and traditional rulers to take decisive action against terrorism, kidnapping, and violent attacks across the nation.

She also urged authorities to strengthen intelligence gathering and local security structures to prevent further attacks and ensure the safe rescue of the abducted victims.

The peace advocate extended condolences to affected families and prayed for national healing, unity, and lasting peace across Nigeria.
