Editorial Policy
CDA News Nigeria is committed to accurate, fair, independent and responsible journalism. This policy explains the standards we aim to apply to news reports, features, interviews, investigations, opinion articles and other editorial content.
Accuracy and verification
We make reasonable efforts to verify names, dates, locations, quotations, documents, statistics and other material facts before publication. Where a claim cannot be independently confirmed, we should make that limitation clear and attribute the claim to its source.
Sources and attribution
We identify sources where appropriate and link to original documents or credible source material when available. Anonymous sources should be used cautiously, with a clear public-interest justification and editorial review. We do not knowingly fabricate sources, quotations, images or evidence.
Fairness and right of reply
For serious allegations, we seek comment from the person or organisation concerned and fairly represent relevant responses received before publication. If a response arrives after publication, we may update the report where appropriate.
Originality and use of third-party material
We aim to publish original reporting and meaningful editorial work. Third-party facts, quotations, photographs and other material should be attributed or used with appropriate permission or legal basis. We do not present copied material as our own reporting.
Independence and conflicts of interest
Editorial decisions should be based on news value and the public interest. Relevant conflicts of interest should be disclosed and managed. Sponsored, advertising or promotional material should be clearly distinguished from independent editorial coverage.
Headlines, images and AI-assisted work
Headlines and images should accurately represent the story and must not mislead readers. Digital tools, including AI-assisted tools, may support editorial work, but published factual claims require human editorial checks. We do not knowingly publish fabricated AI-generated events, quotations or evidence as real.
Opinion and complaints
Opinion and commentary should be clearly labelled. Readers may submit corrections or complaints to info@cdanews.ng. Material concerns will be reviewed and, where justified, addressed in accordance with our corrections policy.
