Panic as Fire Razes Plastic Store in Osun, Destroys Goods Worth Millions

There was panic on Sunday evening as a midnight fire razed a popular plastic store in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, destroying goods worth millions of naira.

The fire, which started around 11:45 pm, engulfed the two-storey building located along Gbongon Road, sending thick smoke into the air and forcing nearby residents to flee their homes for safety.

Witnesses said the blaze may have been caused by an electrical spark from a faulty power connection, though the State Fire Service has yet to confirm the exact cause.

“We heard a loud sound, and within minutes, flames had spread across the entire shop. We tried to salvage some items, but the fire was too intense,” an eyewitness told CDA News Nigeria.

Firefighters from the Osogbo headquarters arrived after several calls from distressed residents. It took over two hours to bring the inferno under control.

No casualties or injuries were recorded. However, the shop owner, who declined to give his name, said he had lost his entire investment spanning over seven years.
