Police neutralise three suspects in anti-banditry operation in Zamfara

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have neutralised three suspected bandits during a targeted anti-banditry operation in Zamfara State.

The incident occurred late Monday night in a forest hideout along the Tsafe–Gusau road, a known flashpoint for kidnappings and armed attacks. According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the suspects engaged police in a fierce gun battle before being overpowered.

“They opened fire on sighting our operatives. In the ensuing exchange, three of the bandits were neutralised, while others fled with bullet wounds,” the statement read.

Recovered items include two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, 78 rounds of live ammunition, and five motorcycles. Police also rescued four kidnapped victims who were found tied up inside the hideout.

The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families after receiving medical attention. The police have launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.

Commissioner of Police for Zamfara State, CP Mohammed Bunu, commended the operatives and urged residents to continue providing actionable intelligence to security agencies.
