Pen Caleb Queries Enyimba Garment Factory Rebranding, Asks: “What Exactly Has Changed?”

Political analyst, Pen Caleb, has questioned the recommissioning of the Enyimba Garment Factory, alleging that the present administration merely repainted and rebranded a project inherited from the immediate past government.

In a statement, Caleb argued that the factory was built and commissioned during the administration of former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and wondered why cosmetic modifications were being celebrated as a major achievement.

According to him, if there were structural defects, operational setbacks, or newly introduced facilities, the government should clearly explain them to the public.

“Development is not about repainting buildings from cream to black and white. Development is about creating new opportunities, building new infrastructure, attracting investments, and solving real problems,” he stated.

Caleb further maintained that there is nothing wrong with maintaining, upgrading, or improving inherited projects. However, he stressed that governments owe citizens transparency regarding the nature and scope of such interventions.

He argued that Abians deserve accountability and should be informed whether the recent work on the factory involved a complete overhaul, installation of new equipment, expansion of production capacity, or merely aesthetic changes.

The Political analyst concluded by urging the public to distinguish between renovation and the creation of entirely new projects, insisting that governance should be measured by tangible outcomes rather than public relations narratives.

As of the time of filing this report, the Abia State Government had not issued an official response to the concerns raised by Pen Caleb.
