Osogbo, Osun State — An All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Osun State, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has declared that intimidation and harassment of voters or political opponents will not be tolerated during the forthcoming governorship election.
CDA News Nigeria reports that Oyebamiji made the statement while addressing party supporters and stakeholders, stressing the need for a peaceful, free and credible electoral process. He urged all political actors to conduct their campaigns within the confines of the law and respect democratic principles.
According to him, every eligible voter should be allowed to exercise their constitutional right without fear, coercion or intimidation. He also called on security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a level playing field for all contestants.
“Intimidation will not be allowed during the Osun governorship election. Every voter must be free to participate peacefully, and all political parties should abide by the rules of democratic engagement,” Oyebamiji said.
Political observers say the appeal comes as political activities intensify ahead of the Osun governorship poll, with parties stepping up campaigns across the state.
The Osun governorship election is expected to attract keen interest from major political parties, while electoral authorities and security agencies continue preparations to ensure a peaceful and credible exercise.
