INEC to display candidates’ credentials for 2027 national elections in Lagos

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State has announced the commencement of the public display of Form EC9, containing the personal particulars of candidates contesting the 2027 presidential, senatorial and House of Representatives elections.

According to CDA News Nigeria, the exercise begins on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in line with the provisions of Section 29 of the Electoral Act 2022.

In a statement issued by the Head of Voter Education and Publicity in Lagos State, Mrs. Esther Emeh, the commission said the documents would be displayed at the INEC Lagos State Office in Sabo-Yaba and at Local Government Area offices within the constituencies where the candidates are seeking election.

INEC explained that Form EC9 contains candidates’ personal particulars, academic credentials and sworn affidavits submitted by political parties during the nomination process.

The commission urged political parties, candidates, election observers, civil society organisations and members of the public to inspect the documents during the display period. It added that any person who believes a candidate submitted false information or forged documents may challenge such submissions through the legal process provided under the Electoral Act.

CDA News Nigeria reports that the commission reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and pledged to ensure a free, fair and credible electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
