YENAGOA — Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has described his deputy, Dr Peter Akpe, as a “round peg in a round hole” and reaffirmed his confidence in the decision to appoint him to the state’s number two position.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the Governor made the declaration on Sunday during a grand reception organised in honour of Dr Akpe by his Ebedebiri community in Sagbama Local Government Area . Diri said the well-attended event was a confirmation that Akpe was loved and accepted by members of his community .
“Today’s event confirms my decision to appoint him as my deputy. It is one thing to announce the appointment of a person, and it is another for that person to be accepted and celebrated,” Diri stated .
CDA News Nigeria reports that the Governor described Akpe as humble and capable, praising him for identifying with his roots . He noted that his choice was guided by God and that Akpe’s story from a very humble beginning serves as an inspiration .
In his response, Akpe expressed gratitude to Governor Diri for the opportunity to serve and acknowledged the lessons in patience and accommodation learned while working with him .
