Trump Orders Flags at Half-Mast in Honour of Dolly Parton

President Donald Trump has ordered American flags across the United States to be flown at half-mast for one week in honour of country music legend Dolly Parton, who passed away at age 80 .

In a statement on social media, Trump described Parton as “one of the greatest Country singers, and far beyond, EVER” and declared that “there has never been anyone like her, and never will” .

The order takes effect from 6:00 PM on Tuesday, August 25, and will remain in place for a one-week period . The flag-lowering directive covers all U.S. federal government facilities, military bases, naval vessels, and even American embassies abroad .

CDA News Nigeria reports that Parton, who rose from poverty in rural Tennessee to become one of the most beloved figures in American music, crafted timeless hits such as Jolene, I Will Always Love You, and *9 to 5* . She was also renowned for her philanthropic work, particularly through her foundation promoting children’s literacy .

CDA News Nigeria gathered that Parton’s death at 80 has drawn tributes from across the political and cultural spectrum. The Empire State Building in New York was lit up in pink sparkles in her honour, while American flags flew at half-staff in Washington D.C. .
