The Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (CPG), also known as Askarawan Zamfara, have arrested nine suspected members and collaborators of criminal gangs operating across the state.
The suspects, paraded in Gusau on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, included alleged bandits, informants, logistics suppliers, a medical practitioner accused of treating wounded bandits, and a man accused of impersonating a legal practitioner.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the Commandant of the CPG, retired AIG Shehu Dalijan, disclosed the arrests during the parade, noting that they followed intelligence-driven operations conducted across the state, with information from suspects embedded within criminal camps aiding the breakthrough.
Among those paraded was 20-year-old Abubakar Malan Ori, who confessed to spending several months in the camp of notorious bandit kingpin, Kachalla Gwaska, and participating in operations spanning Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger states and neighbouring Niger Republic, allegedly involving over N226 million in ransom collections.
The suspected bandit doctor, identified as Ibrahim Mafindi Titus, reportedly confessed to treating injured bandits using medical supplies sourced through contacts, while the fake lawyer, Mustapha Muhammed, was accused of extorting money from a detainee’s relative outside the CPG headquarters.
Other suspects paraded include Mamman Haruna and Aliyu Lawali, linked to cattle rustling and armed attacks. Dalijan reaffirmed the CPG’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and restoring peace across Zamfara.
