…Kalu, Otti Listed as Guests of Honour for September 26 Celebration
The Ajatanigu Autonomous Community in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State is set to host its 2026 Annual Thanksgiving Ceremony and Iriji Festival on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
CDA News Nigeria reports that the event, according to the programme released by the community, will take place at King Larry’s Palace, Ajatanigu Autonomous Community, under the chairmanship of Royal High Chief Sir Emenike Onuoha (JP), former Chairman of Umuahia South LGA.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the ceremony is expected to attract prominent political leaders, traditional rulers, academics, community leaders, and other distinguished guests.
Listed as Chief Guest of Honour is Rt. Hon. Barr. Benjamin Okezie Kalu (CON, FR), Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, while Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex C. Otti (OFR), is listed as the Distinguished Guest of Honour.
Other guests include Senator Austin Akobundu, Chief Henry Ikoh, Senator Chris Adighije, Hon. Prince Uzor Nwachukwu, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, Hon. Dr. Matthew Ekwuribe, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, Hon. Boniface Isienyi, Prof. Ursula Ngozi Akanwa, Prof. Chiedozie Egesi, and Rt. Hon. Sam I. Onuigbo.
The programme also lists Hon. Prince Anthony Nwaubani, Executive Mayor of Ikwuano LGA, and Rt. Hon. Emeka Atuma among the chief hosts. Traditional rulers and community leaders from Ajatanigu, Oboro, and neighbouring communities are also expected to participate.
The Spiritual Father of the Day is listed as His Lordship Rt. Rev. U.U. Nmeregini, Bishop of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Ndoro.
The annual ceremony is expected to combine thanksgiving with the cultural celebration of Iriji, traditionally associated with the presentation and appreciation of the new yam harvest.
