The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, has sympathized with residents of Nkalunta in Otu Uzo-Ibere Autonomous Community, Ikwuano Local Government Area, following a devastating flood that swept through the area.
CDA News Nigeria reports that Orji, a former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, conveyed his sympathy in a message to the affected community, also assured residents he would visit in person soon and pledged to use his contacts to mobilize support for the community during this difficult period.
Nkalunta has again been left submerged by flooding, with homes, farmlands, crops, and livestock destroyed. A spot assessment described the scene as a “footprint of disaster,” noting that nearly every household was affected and that vehicles could not enter or leave the village.
Residents are calling for urgent relief materials, medical assistance, and a durable access road to tackle both the immediate emergency and the community’s recurring flood problem.
