Nnamdi Azikiwe University Appoints Professor Bond Anyaechie as New Vice-Chancellor

AWKA – The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has announced the appointment of Professor Bond Anyaechie as its new substantive Vice-Chancellor, ending a year-long leadership vacuum following the reversal of Professor Bernard Odoh’s appointment.

The announcement was made on Sunday by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Olugbenga Kukoyi, who described the selection process as “thorough and transparent.”

Professor Anyaechie, a specialist in Medical Physiology and Clinical Measurement, brings nearly two decades of academic experience to the position. He previously served as Deputy Provost of the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria, between 2018 and 2022.

The new VC’s academic qualifications include:

· First degree in Medicine and Surgery from Abia State University (1998)
· Master’s degree (2004) and PhD (2009) in his field
· Master of Public Health (2011)

He was promoted to Professor of Physiology and Clinical Measurement in 2013 and has held various academic leadership positions throughout his career.
