Ikwuano Group Faults Union Election Plan, Cites “Exclusionary” Fees, Clan Bias

….CIFF warns high costs, concentrated roles threaten credibility of IDUF 2025 poll.

The Concerned Ikwuano Forum and Foundation (CIFF) has raised strong objections to the newly released election guidelines for the Ikwuano Development Union Federated (IDUF) 2025, citing exclusionary fees and a worrisome concentration of power in one clan.

In a press statement, the non-partisan civic body condemned the “exorbitant” nomination fees—₦100,000 for President General and ₦50,000–₦70,000 for other positions—arguing they shut out competent but less affluent candidates amid economic hardship.

CIFF also highlighted a structural imbalance, noting that the Electoral Committee Chairman, election venue, and outgoing chairman all hail from the same clan, creating “a perception of bias” and undermining fairness in the four-clan union.

The group called for an urgent review to ensure balance, transparency, and broader participation, warning that unjust processes risk sowing division in Ikwuano.
