“Your Lies Are Exposed”: Wike-Led PDP Faction Mocks Makinde, Turaki in Christmas Message

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has used its Christmas message to launch a blistering attack on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Kabiru Turaki-led National Working Committee, mocking their “exposed lies.”

In a statement issued on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, the Wike-led PDP Caretaker Committee seized on the recent rejection of the Turaki committee by the Independent National Electoral Commission to taunt its rivals.

“Their earlier claims of being recognised by INEC have now been clearly exposed as false. Their stock-in-trade remains lies and propaganda,” the statement read.

CDA News Nigeria gathered that the faction specifically targeted Governor Makinde over his recent media chat where he criticized Wike and vowed not to support President Tinubu in 2027.

The statement described Makinde’s interview as “uninspiring and replete with distorted facts, confessional statements, envy, and an afterthought,” demonstrating a “clear lack of understanding” of the party’s legal crises.

“His comments should therefore be treated with utmost caution,” it added.

Urging Support for Its Own Leadership

While calling for festive prayers for the country and party stability, the faction urged members to “reflect deeply” and continue supporting the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led Caretaker Committee, which it claims is “steadfast in restoring order, cohesion, and credibility.”

The statement represents an escalation of the bitter war of words within the PDP, using the season of goodwill to underscore the deep divisions and mutual accusations between the competing factions vying for the soul of Nigeria’s main opposition party.
