ADC Alleges APC Plot to Disrupt Opposition Summit in Ibadan

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of planning to disrupt a major opposition summit scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday, April 25, 2026 .

ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, who raised the alarm in a statement on X (formerly Twitter), claimed the party had uncovered plans by the APC to frustrate the gathering.

“We have uncovered plans by the ruling APC to disrupt the summit being held by the opposition parties in Ibadan, Oyo State, today, 25th of April,” Abdullahi said .

According to Abdullahi, the opposition coalition was earlier denied access to venues in Abuja, forcing them to relocate to Ibadan. He accused the ruling party of hypocrisy, saying that while APC officials publicly claim not to be frightened, their actions betray deep anxiety .

“After denying us the use of venues in Abuja, they now will not leave us alone to hold our meetings. They say they are not scared, but they are behaving like people who are terrified,” he stated .

Summit to Proceed Despite Alleged Threat

Despite the alleged threat, the ADC spokesperson vowed that the opposition parties would proceed with the summit.

“We will not be deterred, because we are on the side of the Nigerian people,” Abdullahi added .

The summit, which has the theme: “That we may work together for a united opposition to sustain our democracy,” is being chaired by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and will be addressed by Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, Prof. Pat Utomi, Dr. Dran Bugaje, and former INEC REC Mike Igini .
