Advocacy Group Urges President Tinubu to Secure Crude Oil for Dangote Refinery

A coalition, Partners for National Economic Progress (PANEP), has publicly called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and ensure a steady supply of domestic crude oil to the Dangote Refinery.

The group made the appeal during a rally in Port Harcourt, themed “National Unity Against Sabotage.” PANEP described the move as crucial for resolving the ongoing challenges in Nigeria’s petroleum sector.

In a signed statement, the coalition emphasized that supplying crude to local refineries is both a legal requirement under Section 109 of the Petroleum Industry Act and a vital national economic interest.

“It is unfortunate and embarrassing that the Dangote Refinery has had to import crude oil from other countries,” the group stated. They urged regulators to enforce policies that support local refining and give domestic refineries priority access to Nigerian crude.

PANEP also commended the Dangote Refinery’s plans to significantly expand its capacity, highlighting the project as a milestone for Nigeria and Africa that will boost employment and strengthen the economy.
