The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has disclosed that Air Peace and United Nigeria topped the list as domestic airlines delayed 4,765 flights and cancelled 36 others in August 2026.
CDA News Nigeria gathered that the NCAA made the disclosure on Sunday via its official X handle, revealing that 15 carriers, representing 59.9 percent of operations, operated 7,961 flights during the month, with roughly six in every ten flights failing to run on schedule.
According to the agency, Air Peace operated the highest number of flights at 1,864, recording 1,330 delays, representing 71.4 percent of its operations, while United Nigeria had the worst delay rate, with 943 of its 1,231 flights delayed and eight cancellations, the highest in the month.
Enugu Air recorded 582 delays from 878 flights with four cancellations. Of the total delays, 2,801 flights were held up between 16 minutes and one hour, 1,322 between one and two hours, 407 between two and three hours, and 235 for three hours or more, with Air Peace accounting for 108 of the longest delays.
The NCAA commended Umza Air for the best performance, recording just 52 delays from 403 flights with no cancellations, followed by Xe Jet with 40 delays from 127 flights. Other carriers including Aero, Arik, Ibom Air, Max Air, Rano Air, Value Jet, Green Africa, Overland and Binani recorded varying delay figures, while NG Eagle recorded no operations during the period.
