1. Boko Haram kills four in Adamawa community attack
Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have invaded Bitirhuya community in Hong LGA of Adamawa State, killing four residents and setting many houses ablaze. The fresh attack came barely a week after the terrorists killed 12 people in Nzangola village, Gombi LGA .
2. ADC calls for review of ‘partisan lecturers’ as returning officers
The ADC has called on INEC to review the use of “partisan lecturers” as returning and collation officers in the 2027 elections. The call followed a report that more than 600 senior lecturers from public universities in the North endorsed President Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election .
3. Gunmen kill nine passengers in Plateau
No fewer than nine passengers were killed when gunmen opened fire on a commercial bus at Dungus Junction in the Kuru community, Jos South LGA of Plateau State. Residents said the incident occurred when the bus driver stopped to drop off some passengers .
4. Osun Police recover second corpse from Ile-Ife motor park shooting
The Osun State Police Command on Monday said it had recovered another corpse from the premises of the Mayfair Motor Park in Ile-Ife, bringing to two the number of people killed in the shooting incident at the park. The remains of Olalekan Oyeyemi, a chieftain of the Accord Party, were buried in Osogbo .
5. Anambra Police arrest woman for brutalising seven-year-old daughter
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old woman, Ogechi Ofoma, for allegedly inflicting bodily injuries on her seven-year-old daughter in Ibollo community, Awada-Obosi, Idemili North LGA. The girl was allegedly injured with a hot knife after she was accused of taking meat from a pot .
6. Fire destroys goods worth millions in Lagos
Two separate fire incidents in the Ikorodu and Surulere areas of Lagos State have destroyed goods and property worth millions of naira, LASEMA has said. The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA disclosed this in a statement on Monday .
7. SDP candidate withdraws petition against Oyebanji’s Ekiti victory
The SDP candidate in the June 20 Ekiti governorship election, Isaac Alade, on Monday withdrew his case challenging the victory of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, against the party’s wishes. Counsel to the SDP candidate told the tribunal that he had filed a Motion on Notice notifying it of the petitioner’s intention to discontinue the petition .
8. Ex-Adamawa Speaker, thousands of supporters defect from APC to APM
Former Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly and serving member representing Yola South State Constituency, Alhaji Kabiru Mijinyawa, and thousands of his supporters defected from the APC to the Action People’s Movement on Monday. He cited a lack of rule of law and transparency in the APC .
9. TUC suspends planned strike over King’s College concession
The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has suspended the industrial action it earlier directed its affiliates to embark on, including shutting Federal Unity Colleges over the proposed concession of King’s College, Lagos. The suspension was announced at the end of a meeting with the Minister of Education .
10. Oyo govt confirms arrest of five suspected terrorists
The Oyo State Government has confirmed the arrest of five suspected terrorists involved in the attack on a military camp on the outskirts of Igbeti in Olorunsogo LGA on Sunday. The Deputy Governor made this known shortly after he was conducted around the scene of the attack .
