City Boy Movement to Bridge Gap Between Leadership, Young Nigerians — Minister

The Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has declared that the City Boy Movement (CBM) is designed to bridge the gap between leadership and young Nigerians.

Olawande made this known in Benin on Friday, April 24, 2026, during the CBM leadership’s tour of the South-South, where he noted that young Nigerians need to be strategically positioned in governance and nation-building.

The delegation, led by the movement’s Grand Patron, Seyi Tinubu, alongside key officials including the Director-General, Francis Oluwatosin Shola, commenced the South-South tour in Edo State. The minister said the tour would serve as a rallying point to mobilize, inspire, and awaken young people across the region.

The CBM, a youth-driven political advocacy group, focuses on grassroots mobilization, youth empowerment, and promoting the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, who received the delegation, praised the group for starting its regional tour in his state, describing it as a well-coordinated movement that signals a strategic shift toward impactful youth participation in governance. “What I see here is a movement that is coordinated, organised, and driven by leadership. That alone gives me confidence that Nigeria’s future is in safe hands,” Okpebholo stated.

Reaffirming his support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid, the governor commended the president for his bold decision to remove the fuel subsidy, a move he noted past administrations had failed to take.
