The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise and publish the names of candidates submitted by the Senator David Mark-led national executive of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the upcoming FCT Area Council election.
Justice Mohammed Umar gave the order on Tuesday, stating that the ADC met all legal requirements for candidate submission.
The ruling followed a suit filed by 17 ADC candidates who were denied electronic access to INEC’s portal after emerging from a substitution primary.
The court held that INEC’s refusal to grant the party access was unjustified under the Electoral Act and its guidelines.
INEC was directed to upload the candidates’ names and provide the ADC with portal access ahead of the February 21, 2026, Area Council polls.
