Human rights lawyer and activist, Barrister Deji Adeyanju, has launched a blistering attack on the 36 state governors, describing them as “useless” and accusing them of failing to account for the massive Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) funds they have received.
In a post shared on his official X handle on Monday, Adeyanju singled out Abia State Governor Alex Otti and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, insisting no governor can justify even 0.05% of the allocations spent on development projects.
“Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, Osun State Governor, Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, and all current 36 state governors are useless,” Adeyanju wrote. “None of them can justify 0.05% of the allocations they have received from FAAC for five years.”
The activist lamented that despite the trillions of naira shared monthly to states, Nigerians continue to suffer from poor infrastructure, collapsed healthcare systems, and unpaid salaries.
“Where is the money? We have the most expensive government in Africa but the worst roads, hospitals, and schools,” he added.
Adeyanju’s comments have reignited public debate on fiscal accountability and governance at the subnational level, with many Nigerians echoing his frustration over the perceived disconnect between federal allocations and visible development.
As of press time, Governor Otti and Governor Adeleke had not issued any official response to the criticism.
