The Ikwuano Development Union (IDUF) has officially announced plans to conduct its federated election to elect new executives that will steer the affairs of Ikwuano Local Government Area in Abia State.
According to an official notification dated March 30, 2026, the election is scheduled to hold on April 6, 2026, at Ariam-Usaka by 12 noon. The exercise is aimed at selecting credible leaders who will oversee the union’s activities both at home and in the diaspora.
The union has called on communities, churches, and clans across Ikwuano to disseminate the information widely to ensure maximum participation. Interested and qualified indigenes have also been encouraged to present themselves for various positions.
As part of the electoral guidelines, each clan is expected to nominate at least 10 delegates who will participate in the voting process. Additionally, clans have been urged to produce between three to four executive members to foster balanced representation.
The election committee, led by Paul Nwagbara and Udensi N. Kelvin, assured members of a transparent and credible process.
The IDUF remains a key socio-cultural body responsible for community development, welfare, and unity among the people of Ikwuano. Observers say the outcome of the election will play a significant role in shaping the union’s future direction.
