“Integrity Wins! Police Reject N500M Bribe, Arrest Suspect With 425 Bags of N7.8B Illicit Drugs!”

In a landmark demonstration of professional integrity and anti-narcotics resolve, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 Command have rejected a staggering N500 million bribe and arrested alleged drug trafficking kingpin Eke Henry Ifeanyi, 41, recovering 425 bags of suspected Canadian Loud — a highly potent variant of cannabis — valued at approximately N7.8 billion from his residential apartment within an estate in Mende, Maryland, Lagos.

Addressing journalists at the scene, Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, confirmed that the operation followed months of intelligence gathering and surveillance around the suspect, who allegedly operated under the cover of a business named Ogata Venture Limited — a POS paper supply business used to conceal his drug dealings and avoid attracting suspicion from security agencies.

During the raid, the suspect allegedly attempted to bribe the Special Protection Unit (SPU) commander with N500 million in a desperate bid to halt the operation and allow his associates evacuate the consignment. “The suspect offered a bribe of N500 million to the SPU commander in an attempt to make the team stand down and allow him contact his associates to move the consignment elsewhere,” AIG Jimoh disclosed.

The offer was firmly rejected and documented as part of the ongoing investigation. “The suspect attempted to compromise the operation with a N500 million bribe, but the officers involved declined and followed due process,” the AIG confirmed, adding: “The professionalism shown by the SPU commander in rejecting the bribe and following due procedure is the standard we expect.”

Investigators also revealed that the suspect was found driving with a fake number plate bearing the inscription “Presidency, NYCN” as part of his efforts to evade security checks at strategic locations across Lagos.

AIG Jimoh warned drug barons operating in the region: “This is the beginning of the end of the issue of drug barons in this region of Lagos and Ogun State.” All recovered exhibits have been documented and will be tendered in court, while investigations continue to uncover other members of the syndicate.

IGP Olatunji Disu commended the operation, saying the success validates the ongoing redeployment of personnel to divisions and units across Lagos and Ogun, adding: “Policing must be close to the people, and our specialised units must work side by side with divisional teams on the ground.”
