Iran Gives Protesters 3-Day Surrender Ultimatum Amid Deadly Crackdown

Iran’s top police officer has issued a three-day ultimatum to protesters involved in recent nationwide unrest, urging them to surrender for lenient treatment or face the full force of the law.

National police chief Ahmad-Reza Radan described demonstrators as “deceived individuals” and not “enemy soldiers,” offering a path to lighter punishment for those who turn themselves in.

The warning comes as Iran’s executive, legislative, and judicial branches jointly pledged to address economic hardships that fueled the protests, while vowing to “decisively punish” instigators of what authorities call “riots.”

Rights groups, however, warn of a severe and deadly state crackdown. The NGO Iran Human Rights says it has verified 3,428 protester deaths, with the actual toll potentially far higher.

The United Nations has condemned Iran’s use of executions as “a tool of state intimidation,” while internet blackouts remain largely in place, hampering independent reporting.
