ISIUGWU AMIZI OLOKO, Abia State — The Woman Leader of Isiugwu Amizi Oloko Community, Mrs. Ngozi Chinatu Ogumji, has expressed concern over the Isiugwu Amizi Oloko abandoned rural electricity project, urging relevant authorities to ensure the project is completed safely before electricity is supplied to residents.
CDA News Nigeria gathered from a report monitored on Ikwuano TV Global that the transformer for the project was donated by Senator Austin Akobundu, while Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji supported the installation of high-tension cables, leaving the project reportedly about 90 percent completed before work stalled.
Mrs. Ogumji alleged that after the Mayor of Ikwuano LGA, Dr. Anthony Nwabani, assumed responsibility for the project, Governor Alex Otti approved ₦6.2 million for its completion. moreover the contractor requested ₦10.2 million, while community leaders and the Ikwuano Labour Party Youth Leader reportedly offered to provide the outstanding ₦4 million, but the proposal was rejected by the mayor because he think that the communities will take the glory.
“The communities are willing to contribute the remaining funds to complete the project, but our concern is that electricity should not be supplied until all fallen poles and wires are properly fixed to avoid a dangerous situation. We also appeal to those involved to face the work and leave our son, who has no hand in the project or the contractor,” Mrs. Ogumji said during an interview monitored by Ikwuano TV Global.
