Police Arrest Suspect Over Alleged Plot to Assassinate Wike

PORT HARCOURT – The Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) has arrested Dr. Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, founder of Life Forte Chapel Church, over an alleged plot to assassinate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

According to security sources, the arrest followed an intercepted telephone conversation between Gbeneol and the immediate past Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, where they allegedly discussed plans involving Israeli nationals to carry out the assassination.

The conversation reportedly included a proposal to seek financial backing from Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, escalating concerns over the deepening political feud between Wike and Fubara.

Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the suspect’s arrest, stating: “He is in our custody. Investigation is ongoing.”

Dr. Danagogo is currently at large, with police efforts underway to locate and apprehend him.

The alleged plot highlights the volatile political climate in Rivers State and raises serious security questions amid the ongoing power struggle between the former governor and his successor.
