Judicial workers in Ondo State, including magistrates, presidents of Grade A Customary Courts, and legal research officers, have suspended their two-week industrial action over demands for judicial autonomy and improved welfare.
The strike, which grounded court activities across the state, was called off on Tuesday following a series of meetings with the state government.
A coalition statement signed by leaders Mrs O. Edwin, Mr. Degun Rotiba, and Mrs. Agbomola noted that agreements were reached on key issues, including the provision of official vehicles, a new salary structure, and immediate steps toward implementing financial autonomy for the judiciary.
The workers expressed appreciation for the government’s demonstration of “good faith” and thanked JUSUN, the Nigerian Bar Association, and the public for their support during the strike.
Members have been directed to resume work from Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
