Ikpeazu Endorses Kalu’s National Leadership, Calls Him “A Blessing to the House”

UMUOBIAKWA – Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has publicly endorsed the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, describing him as a “rising star from the South East” and a leader ordained by divine providence.

Ikpeazu made the declaration on Friday when Kalu paid him a New Year courtesy visit at his country home in Umuobiakwa, Obingwa Local Government Area. Recalling their joint experiences during challenging periods such as Operation Python Dance, COVID-19, and the #EndSARS protests, Ikpeazu expressed gratitude for Kalu’s unwavering support during his tenure as governor.

“Ben, I am proud of your accomplishments… you are a bright star,” Ikpeazu stated. “You bring a lot of maturity and candour. It will not be out of place to say that you are a blessing to the House of Representatives.”

The former governor urged Abians and the wider Igbo community to rally behind Kalu, noting that the South East’s political progress depends on supporting emerging leaders like him. He also advised Kalu’s supporters to remain patient and prayerful as he navigates the complexities of national politics.

In his remarks, Deputy Speaker Kalu congratulated Ikpeazu on his recent nomination as an ambassador-designate of Nigeria and presented him with a brochure highlighting his legislative achievements over the past two years.

The visit signals continued political alignment and mutual support between two key figures in Abia and the South East, amid evolving political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
