Gov. Otti Pushes for Youth Training in Insurance to Tackle Unemployment

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has called for the deliberate training of young people in insurance brokerage to develop future professionals and create employment in the sector.

Governor Otti made the advocacy on Monday while receiving a delegation from the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), led by its President, Mrs. Ekeoma Ezeibe. He highlighted the importance of structured training, referencing the state’s Abia Leadership Academy and TechRise program, which have already trained about 1,000 youths.

The Governor praised NCRIB for bridging the trust gap between insurance companies and customers and expressed willingness to explore partnerships that would add value, especially for policyholders.

Mrs. Ezeibe commended Governor Otti for visible infrastructure improvements in Aba and across the state. She emphasized insurance’s role in sustainable economic development and outlined potential benefits of collaboration with the state, including job creation, investment encouragement, and enhanced access to healthcare.

Governor Otti directed relevant aides to work with NCRIB on detailed partnership modalities and assured support for the council’s planned 2026 CEO retreat in Umuahia.
