Soldiers Deployed After Bandits Kill 40 in Kwara Communities

Soldiers and Forest Guards have been deployed to Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State after bandits killed at least 40 persons in a Tuesday evening attack.

Local sources confirmed that the attackers, believed to have come from neighbouring Niger State, had entered the communities preaching that residents should abandon Nigeria’s constitution and embrace the Qur’an. Disagreement with their message reportedly triggered the violent assault.

Many houses were burnt during the attack, and mass burials are being planned for the victims.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq condemned the attack, describing it as a cowardly act by terrorist cells frustrated by ongoing counterterrorism operations in the state.
