President Bola Tinubu has assured a visiting World Bank delegation that Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms are irreversible and vital to harnessing the country’s potential.
Speaking at the State House in Abuja, Tinubu stated, “Since we have gone into this tunnel of reform, we have our hands on the power and we’re never going to look back.” He acknowledged initial hardships but emphasized resilience, saying, “Those who win are not the ones who give up in difficult times.”
The President highlighted agriculture and mechanization as key areas for intervention and called for World Bank support in boosting fertilizer access, cooperative farming, and industrial value chains.
World Bank Managing Director of Operations, Anna Bjerde, commended Nigeria’s reform efforts, noting they are frequently cited globally as a commendable example of steady policy implementation amid challenges.
