KADUNA, NIGERIA – The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is set to arraign former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, on Tuesday over allegations of fraud and money laundering during his tenure.
The former governor is expected to appear before a Federal High Court in Kaduna to face multiple charges filed by the anti-graft agency. Sources close to the commission confirmed that the charges are related to alleged financial misappropriation and suspicious transactions involving state funds while El-Rufai held office between 2015 and 2023.
ICPC spokesperson, Demola Bakare, confirmed the scheduled arraignment but declined to provide further details, stating that the matter is now before the court.
“The commission has concluded its investigations and will present its case before the court. We urge the public to allow the judicial process to proceed without interference,” Bakare said.
El-Rufai, who served two terms as Kaduna governor, has previously dismissed allegations of wrongdoing, describing them as politically motivated. His legal team is yet to issue a statement ahead of the arraignment.
The case marks one of the highest-profile corruption prosecutions since the current administration assumed office, with observers watching closely as judicial proceedings unfold.
