ABUJA, NIGERIA – No fewer than 32 state governors and 8,450 delegates have arrived in Abuja ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention scheduled to hold on Saturday.
The convention, which will elect new national officers to steer the ruling party’s affairs, has drawn party faithful from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Delegates began arriving in the capital city on Friday, with security operatives deployed to key locations to ensure a smooth exercise.
Among the governors present are those from the APC-controlled states, while several others from opposition parties are also expected to attend as observers. The high-level gathering underscores the significance of the convention as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The National Working Committee has finalized arrangements for the event, with accreditation of delegates set to commence early Saturday morning. Party leaders have called for unity and urged all participants to conduct themselves peacefully.
The convention venue has been fortified with heavy security, and traffic diversions are in place to facilitate movement of delegates and guests.
