Osun Group Cautions APP Over Suit Targeting APC Candidate

OSOGBO, OSUN STATE – A political group in Osun State has cautioned the Action Peoples Party (APP) over a suit filed against the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate ahead of the 2026 governorship election, warning that such legal tactics could destabilize the political landscape.

The group, which described itself as a coalition of concerned stakeholders, expressed concern that the lawsuit was aimed at disqualifying the APC flagbearer through technicalities rather than engaging in issue-based campaigns.

“Politics should not be reduced to courtroom battles over trivialities. The people of Osun deserve to hear what candidates plan to do for them, not endless litigation,” a spokesperson for the group stated.

The APP has yet to respond to the caution. The suit, which is currently before an Osun State High Court, challenges the nomination of the APC candidate on grounds of alleged irregularities in the party’s primary election.

The APC has dismissed the suit as frivolous, expressing confidence that the court would uphold the party’s candidate.

With the 2026 governorship election approaching, political observers are watching closely as legal battles and campaign strategies unfold in the state.
