In Lagos, the APC’s internal contest is central, with aspirants like Jide Adediran and Samuel Ajose vying for the ticket, while opposition parties struggle to mount a credible challenge. In Oyo, the PDP faces a crowded field including Dr Nureni Adeniran, Adebo Ogundoyin, and Segun Ogunwuyi, amid regional and generational calculations.
Nasarawa’s succession race features over 30 aspirants, with zoning and ethnic-religious considerations influencing choices, while Bauchi sees speculation around defections and APC-backed contenders. Ogun State’s APC field includes Solomon Adeola, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, and Prof Iyabo Obasanjo, with calls for Ogun West to produce the next governor.
Yobe, Kwara, Gombe, and Adamawa are witnessing similar maneuvering, with incumbents playing key roles in shaping party alignments. Across the states, zoning, party cohesion, incumbency influence, and technocratic appeal are shaping early succession strategies.
