ABUJA, NIGERIA — Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, has ordered the immediate disbandment of all tactical teams in the state as part of sweeping policing reforms. The directive was issued during an emergency briefing on March 18, 2026, with key officers following consultations with Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu.
CP Isa announced that the disbanded units will be replaced by specialized squads focused on anti-cultism and anti-kidnapping, ensuring better supervision and accountability. He stressed that ongoing investigations must not be duplicated and that officers must avoid deploying to private individuals, per a presidential directive.
On civil matters, the CP warned against police interference in land disputes, advising parties to pursue resolution through the courts. He also called for the prompt release of suspects in bailable offenses and commended the Mobile Force and Counter-Terrorism Unit for their recent training.
Newly promoted DCP Ifeanyi A. Ohuruzo also urged officers to stay vigilant.
