You’re Opposition of Jokers – Rufai Oseni Slams Atiku, Amaechi, Obi

Veteran broadcaster and journalist Rufai Oseni has launched a blistering attack on opposition leaders Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and Peter Obi, describing them as “jokers” incapable of mounting a credible challenge against President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections .

Oseni’s criticism follows the opposition leaders’ joint rejection of the newly signed Electoral Act 2026, which they described as anti-democratic and designed to undermine the electoral process .

Speaking on his Arise TV program on Friday, Oseni questioned the credibility of opposition figures who presided over electoral processes in the past now complaining about the system .

“You people are a collection of jokers! After the Electoral Act was signed, the same people who were part of the system that produced the 2023 elections are now crying foul,” Oseni fumed .

The journalist took particular aim at the lack of unity among opposition figures, noting that despite their shared rejection of the Electoral Act, they remain divided along personal and party lines .

“Atiku, Obi, and Amaechi cannot even agree on a cup of tea, yet they want Nigerians to believe they can unseat a sitting president. You have no structure, no cohesion, and no message beyond complaining,” he said .

Oseni also challenged the opposition’s specific objection to Section 60(3) of the Act, which grants presiding officers discretionary powers to revert to manual transmission in the event of network failure. He argued that technology failures are a reality in Nigeria and that the provision serves as a necessary backup rather than a rigging tool .

“The same people who benefited from BVAS in 2023 are now saying manual transmission is a plot to rig. Which one do you want? Make up your minds,” he added .

The journalist warned that unless opposition leaders present a united front and coherent alternative vision, President Tinubu would coast to an easy victory in 2027 .
