“Please Don’t Take Our Land” — Abuja Pastor Falls on Knees Before Wike Over Jabi Lake Allocation

A dramatic scene unfolded in Abuja as a pastor was spotted kneeling before the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, desperately pleading against the alleged allocation of land around the popular Jabi Lake area.

The emotional appeal, which has since stirred reactions across social media, saw the clergyman urging the minister to halt what he described as a threat to the community’s heritage and livelihoods tied to the Jabi Lake environs.

The Jabi Lake area remains one of Abuja’s most visited recreational landmarks, and any move to allocate its surrounding land has historically drawn strong resistance from residents, faith communities, and civil society groups.

As of press time, the FCT Ministry had yet to issue an official response to the pastor’s public appeal.
Observers say the incident once again highlights growing tensions over land administration and allocation decisions under Wike’s leadership of the FCT.
