Shape Up or Face Sanctions: Abia APC SWC Orders LG Chairmen to Remit Party Dues Immediately

The State Working Committee (SWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abia State chapter, has issued a firm and non-negotiable directive ordering all Local Government Area (LGA) and Ward Chairmen to immediately remit all funds collected as party monthly dues to the state secretariat, with a strict deadline of 1:00 PM today, Sunday, May 4, 2026.

The directive, contained in an official notice signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, and titled “Immediate Remittance of Party Monthly Dues,” demands that all LGA and ward chairmen submit full remittances accompanied by duplicates of all receipts issued for the monthly dues — leaving no room for partial compliance or delay.

“This directive is mandatory and requires strict compliance,” the notice stated unequivocally, warning that any officer who fails to meet the deadline will face appropriate disciplinary sanctions in line with party regulations.

The SWC further urged all affected officers to treat the matter with the utmost urgency and responsibility, signalling that the party’s leadership is determined to enforce financial discipline at every level of its grassroots structure.

Party insiders suggest the directive is part of a deliberate and broader effort to streamline internal financial management and ensure that grassroots-generated revenue is properly accounted for at the central level ahead of the high-stakes 2027 general election primaries.

The move is widely interpreted as a signal that the Abia APC leadership is tightening its organisational machinery and closing loopholes that may have allowed party funds to be held or mismanaged at the local level.
